Lisa Burton began supporting breast cancer awareness after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Burton first began by volunteering with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, and after her mother passed away in 2003, she was inspired to create Edgerton, Kansas–based Ribbon Chick.
